What’s included in a standard single or mirror will?

You can appoint executors, guardians for children and say who you want to inherit your estate. You can include basic funeral wishes and say who you would like to look after your pets. A standard will includes up to three specific gifts of personal items or cash sums.

If you wish to include trusts, make additional or complex gifts, or the nature of your circumstances (including business ownership or foreign assets) requires extra advice, additional costs will be discussed with you on a no-obligation basis.

What is a mirror will?

A mirror will is a pair of wills made by married or cohabiting couples who want to make their wills together and want the content of their wills to be the same. It is called a mirror will because the contents are virtually identical – they reflect each other.

Making a mirror will with your spouse does not mean you cannot change your will in the future.

Will Trusts

You can include trusts in your will to have greater control over inheritance and/or protection from third parties e.g. if your spouse remarries after your death, rewrites his/her will, needs care etc. The fees below are in addition to our standard will prices. Trusts can vary in complexity. These fees are an indication of our typical prices.

Children’s Trust (to include an inheritance age beyond 18 e.g. 21 or 25)£75 + VAT
Protective Property Trust (includes severance of tenancy if required)£450 + VAT
Discretionary Trust / Disabled Persons Trust including letter of wishes£550 +VAT
Flexible Life Interest Trust including letter of wishes£550 +VAT

Lasting Power of Attorney

Lasting Power of Attorney is as important as making a will. It gives people you trust the legal powers to help you if you lose mental capacity through accident or illness. A much less stressful (and cheaper) alternative to the Court of Protection.

We will assist you with signing the documents and checking these before registering with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). Our fees do not include the registration fee of £82 per document that is charged by the Office of the Public Guardian.

Lasting Power of Attorney (Property & Finance or Health & Welfare)£300 +VAT

Lifetime Trusts

You can transfer assets to a trust (property, investments, cash).

Fees for a lifetime trust are bespoke depending on the value and nature of assets involved. From £3000 + VAT

Probate

Assistance with applying for a grant of probate / letters of administration and also setting up trusts (where applicable) via will. For simple, non-taxable grant-only estates, fees start from £799+VAT+disbursements (e.g. probate registry fee)

Full estate administration service is recommended for estates where there is an Inheritance Tax liability or if the deceased owned a business or there are multiple beneficiaries or any potential dispute issues.
